01

Term Life Insurance

Term insurance provides coverage for a selected period, commonly 10, 15, 20, or 30 years. It can offer a larger death benefit at a comparatively lower initial premium and may suit families protecting income, a mortgage, education expenses, or other time-limited obligations.

02

Whole Life Insurance

Whole life is permanent insurance designed to remain in force for life when required premiums are paid. It generally offers level premiums, a guaranteed death benefit, and guaranteed cash-value accumulation, subject to the policy contract.

03

Indexed Universal Life Insurance

IUL is permanent life insurance with flexible features and cash-value interest crediting linked in part to a market index. The policy is not an investment in the index. Crediting is subject to participation rates, caps, floors, charges, and policy terms. Proper design, funding, and ongoing review are important.

04

Living-Benefit Riders

Some policies offer riders that may allow an eligible insured person to access part of the death benefit after a qualifying terminal, chronic, or critical illness. Availability, definitions, costs, limitations, and benefits vary by product and state.

05

Which Type May Fit?

Term may fit a temporary protection need. Whole life may fit a preference for guarantees and permanent coverage. IUL may fit someone seeking permanent protection with flexible features who understands its costs and long-term management requirements. A needs analysis helps narrow the choice.

Important information

Policy guarantees are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Riders may involve costs and restrictions. Accessing accelerated death benefits reduces the remaining death benefit and may have tax or public-benefit consequences.
